Saturday was double-date night with my BFF, and our loves. We went out for a nice dinner at The Corner Table, a cute little restaurant in the Tanglewood neighborhood of South Minneapolis.
I forgot to bring my camera, so all we had were our camera phones in a dimly lit restaurant, and this was the best we could do:
The men were not only camera-shy, they were all like:
Our Men: UM, HOW many pictures do you guys want to take?
Us Girls: Take another one please!
Out Men: We don’t want to *disturb* the other diners.
Us Girls: Just take one more!
Us Girls: And another one!
After reviewing the pics:
Us Girls: Will you txt that one to me? EXCEPT for THAT one. No one needs to see THAT. NO. NO. NO. DELETE THAT one. But that OTHER one? TXT the cute one of us to me!
And since our food hadn’t yet arrived, and the light was *somewhat* better outside, I grabbed my BFF’s hand and said:
Me: Let’s go take pictures outside so we don’t *embarass* the boys.
And of course, she was TOTALLY up for it. That’s my BFF – we’re always on the same page like that! We left the boys to talk “man talk” or whatever the kind of stuff that they talk about when their women-folk leave.
And here’s a little tidbit about my BFF: She is a sultry, classic, all-american beauty, from the south – Texas if you have to know:
She’s sassy and sweet, and hard working, and caring and loving. She’s a single mom with a teenage daughter and a chihuahua.
And even though we live pretty close, and we work in the same industry, our lives can be hectic. There are times where we may not see each other for several weeks at a time. BUT, when we do, it’s talk, talk, talk, hug, laugh, laugh, laugh, hug some more, talk, talk, laugh, hugs, KISSES!
And these are the pictures she took of me outside of the restaurant, as we giggled and laughed like little school girls:
And when we went back into the restaurant. Guess what – all the other women had pulled out their camera phones and were snapping pictures left and right. YEP. It took the two of us laughing, snapping pictures and acting like a couple of school girls to get everyone loosened up. YEAH US! We got the party started!
You know, when you’re younger, you need a lot of alcohol to get loosened up enough to be yourself.
When you’re not 22 anymore, you care less about what others think, and more about ENJOYING the moment.
Because you realize, life is short. As soon as we started laughing and enjoying the moment, smiles and laughs were EVERYWHERE.
