Yesterday, I was proud of myself. I was all thinking like, “You’re too sexy for Versace,” and wouldn’t you know it, with that attitude, I landed on my @ss.
Here’s how it went down:
1.) I was inspired by a bunch of blogs online.
2.) I had a new (to me) ornate gold & red vintage belt (that is oh-so-Versace, but not) that I had been dying to wear – just didn’t have the chance to style it yet.
3.) I had JUST picked up some cute red Jeffrey Campbell shoes from June Resale Boutique last week, that would style so BEAUTIFULLY with my red belt.
And after digging through my closet this morning, I paired it the red belt & shoes with my Show Me Your Mumu Python print topslip (purchased from Covered Boutique in Uptown last year,) and my J Brand Army Cargo’s (purchased from GH2 Resale & Consignment last week), I was feeling oh-so-cute and particularly proud of this styling…
And since it was a little chilly yesterday, I threw on a Vintage 80′s oversized denim jacket:
This is probably my new favorite outfit. I had an extra skip in my step all day…
So, on with my story:
So, I’m running around town running errands, feeling all cute and coy. I’m at the asian grocery story picking up some groceries, and this handsome young man no older than my 19-year old son, is just starring at me and following me around the entire store. I’m ignoring him and I’m thinking in my head to myself,
“That’s right, I’m too sexy Versace!”
Yeah – and you bet, I was walking all swaggery and cute-like: (Here’s my swag-walk)
And, as I headed to the register, he was right THERE, behind me, with a can of soda he picked up from the aisle, he approached me and said,
Handsome Young Man: Um, I’m sorry for staring.
Me: Oh (blush, blush), It’s OK. I get that sometimes. (eyelashes flutter)
Handsome Young Man: It’s just that you just look so much like someone…
Me: Oh, um, thanks. (still blushing)
Cute Young Man: Yeah, my mom died when I was younger, and I really miss her.
WHA?
Yeah – I just got knocked flat on my ass. I looked like HIS MOM.
I was thinking:
“Since when did your momma ever wear Versace?”
(roll eyes here – right? Come on, your momma? GIVE a GIRL A BREAK!) He was *obviously* still grief-stricken even after all these years.
Well, not everyone’s gonna think you’re a sexy beast -right? My daughter is going to laugh her @ss off when she hears about this. I’m hoping she doesn’t read this, or I’ll never hear the end of it. And then if that wasn’t bad enough, there’s more:
OH CRAP. I left the rice, that I paid for, at the store.
Well, here are the rest of the deets:
