Can Python Print Be Business Professional?

Posted on August 21, 2012 by Daisy Nguyen in Fashion, Work Appropriate Outfits 60 Comments

Animal prints are SO WILD. Leopard print, snake print, zebra print – OH MY! Because of the wild nature of animal prints, when dressing for business meetings, I tend to keep the animal prints to a minimum – limiting them to shoes, or a bag, or a peeking out underneath a blazer. Today, I decided to throw out that old-school thought and GO WILD. Fortunately, my business meeting today is a marketing meeting, where I’m expected to be the most colorful personality in the room, as well as someone who’s going to get everyone thinking creatively. Sounds like a PERFECT time to break out my love for animal prints!

This skirt is actually a dress that I wore here and here – I just threw on a nude lace top to break up the python print, and my favorite blazer. A blazer can make almost any outfit a little more business professional.

The maxi skirt flows so beautifully. While walking from my car into the drug store, I was stopped – twice – by people letting me know how beautiful the dress was and to enquire where they could purchase it! Every time I wear this dress, I get that kind of a reaction.

This set of photo’s was taken by my daughter. She does a great job and I end up with TONS of great pictures, it’s so hard to narrow it down to a few pictures!

I seriously don’t know what we’re going to do when it’s too cold to stand outside on the deck and hide behind my beautiful plants!

In the meantime, I’m enjoying as much time on my deck as I can! And so is my doggy, Jazz! This is what typically happens “behind the scenes” when we’re taking our pictures – Jazzy wanders around trying to figure out what we’re doing, walking in and out of our pictures:

Then she decides, she MUST give kisses to the lovely photographer!

My poochie’s job is to spread love & joy where ever she goes. She takes this VERY seriously. She felt the photographer needed love – and THERE SHE WAS to deliver.

Once the kisses were delivered and received – happily on both sides, she was back to my side, making sure I had everything I needed for my shots:

And when she was absolutely sure everything was good to go, she gave us her blessing and walked to the edge of the frame, and let us take our pics. She was right – we got some great shots!

I listen to my poochie, Jazzy. She’s never done me wrong!

And the deets!

My favorite bag – my soft, buttery Balenciaga, a gift from my mom:

I LOVE these shoes. They’re suede. They’re cute. They’re comfy. They’re a great color. They’re feminine yet with the laces, these little heels now have a little bit of a sporty edge. YUM!

Bracelets & rings – OH MY!

And this GORG Georgia Fletcher necklace. I have a similar one here – this one has different charms, and is a different size.

And since my daughter is the photographer and she cares about every little detail, she even got a great snap of these beautiful earings! These M. Bridget Designs earrings are a staple for me – I wear them all the time. They go with just about anything!

What I’m Wearing:

Dress: Dresses and Other Drugs (Dress the Population) purchased from Covered Boutique in Uptown Minneapolis

Top: Forever 21 nude lace top

Blazer: L’Atelier Stretch cotton Blazer in Seafoam (old)

Bag: Balenciaga City bag in Rose Gold buy

Shoes: Trouve Suede lace-up heels (old)

Sunglasses: Vintage YSL

Watch: Michael Kors

Accessories: Vintage Castlecuff hinge bracelet, various other bracelets, Bora white coral ring purchased from Omorphia, vintage brass  leather belt, necklace – Georgia Fletcher, earrings – M. Bridget Designs

After writing up this post, I realized how much python print I’ve got in my closet – WOW! There’s more than a few posts with python print in them!

What do you wear to liven up your business professional outfits?

XOXO

Seriously stunning! And I love the idea of pairing a nude lace top over it to separate the print and calm it down for the office, and of course the blazer :) Always my go-to to make something more professional at work! Hope your meeting goes well :) Thanks for liking my posts on Instagram because I was able to find your blog! Definitely a new follower :) And fun to read fellow Minnesotans blogs :)

I have been rocking a bunch of snakskin this year and I think it is a great neutral alternative as for an animal print it is pretty subdued.

Love how the dress floats and the shoes are fab.

I work in fashion and retail so to me this is TOTALLY biz appropriate…I am not sure it would be for some of my business clients- but I totally agree that a blazer instantly takes a more casual unstructured outfit and gives it a more serious appeal.
