I’m a fashion addict, and I LOVE fashion blogs. I read them every morning with breakfast, and everynight as I wind down with my hubby in front of the TV, I’ve got my laptop, and checking out the fashion blogs AND watching TV at the same time. Talk about multi-tasking!
As a fashion-blogger myself, I LOVE it when you leave comments, and I assume when I read YOUR fashion blogs, you LOVE it when you get comments & feedback!
So, I find it so strange when bloggers make it difficult for their readers to comment! – I read AT LEAST 100 blog posts a day. Most of them are great, so I will leave a comment on almost all of them. THAT’s a LOT of comments to leave! I find it so annoying when blogs make it SOOOOOO DIFFICULT to leave a comment. It’s like when you run into the drugstore to grab “just that one little thing” and the line is so freeking long, you throw “that one thing” back into a bin and LEAVE.
DON’T do that to your readers!
So, as I was reading blogs this morning, I decided to figure out how often this happens – and it’s half of the blogs I’m following have the “PROVE YOU’RE NOT A ROBOT” spam blocker. UG. I just want to poke myself out in the eye. AND, when I look to see who’s got this annoyance ON and who doesn’t,
the people that have it ON, have the LEAST comments. -NOT A COINCIDENCE!
You’re making it too hard for us readers to engage with you!
Check this out. After reading a great post and writing a well-thought out comment, I run into THIS:
There are times, especially at night, where it’s late, I’m tired and guess what?
I can’t make out a single character. And then I’m in this kind of robot hell. Since I didn’t enter in the characters right, it gives me ANOTHER one to try – this time, even more garbled than the last. UG! If I can’t leave a comment after 2 tries, I leave. ARGG! So frustrating!
If you’re so scared of spam, at the very least, just have your comment moderation on – which means you would need to approve the comments before they are published. At least, YOU’re taking on the responsibility of proving someone’s not a robot instead of pushing that burden onto your reader.
Some of my FAVORITE bloggers that get HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of comments for every post they publish don’t have any comment moderation OR robot detectors on. For instance, Atlantic Pacific blog. Her last post that was published yesterday has 245 comments – SO FAR. And, since I don’t have to “prove” I’m not a robot, I’m reading and commenting EVERYDAY!
I’d leave this in a comment for you on your blog, but apparently, I’m not very good at reading garbly-gook. FML.
Are you making it easy or HARD for your readers to communicate with you?
Do you agree or disagree? LEAVE ME A COMMENT! 🙂
