I’m always happy when my teenage daughter wants to spend an entire day with me. Really – ME? You want to spend the entire day with MOI?
So this weekend, we had a mother-daughter day. We putzed around town, ate bagels, had shakes, laughed, talked about fashion, took pictures, took more pictures and then headed home to blog! YES, my daughter has decided to start her own blog – where she will showcase her fashion sense (of course!) and the sassiness that is HER. If you get a chance, check out her new blog:
Tumi on the RUN!
Having a bagel at Brueggar’s Bagels in Uptown:
Chilling at the Tea Garden in Uptown:
And then OH MOM – look at the dumpster! PHOTO-OP!
She’s so wise beyond her years. She’s got an old soul and you can almost see that in her eyes!
And then since we met some FAB gals at the Tea Garden who told us about their henna tattoos, off we went in search of henna tattoos!
Here’s one of the cool tattoos that started our hunt:
So off we went, to a local Somali mall where we heard about their cool henna tattoos! We wandered around and found Sabrina’s beauty shop! And guess what? The henna artist, Halima, is 14, and she’s been doing henna since she was five!
You have to be patient while the henna dries:
She’s instagramming away while we wait some more:
And while we were waiting, we got to the know the girls, Halima, who is 14, and Sumeya, her younger sister, who is 10. Aren’t they so sweet & cute?
But girls will be girls!
While we waited, Halima painted henna tatoos on two other women, who were avid fans. She’s quite talented and has a huge following! Here’s my daughter’s finished henna tattoo:
If you’re in Minneapolis and looking for a great henna tattoo, check out Sabrina’s Beauty at the Somali mall at the corner of Lake Street & Pillsbury Avenue South.
And at $5.00 for a beautiful piece of art from two of the sweetest girls you’ll ever meet – you’ve gotta try it out!
Then we rushed home to do another photoshoot, and then rushed home to talk about it, laughed about our wonderful day, and then blogged about it. Like mother, like daughter!
What do you do on mother-daughter day with your daughter?

How fun to spend the day together! The henna tattoo is beautiful. Kayla and I usually go out to eat and go shopping. One of our favorite things is to go to the Goodwill and browse through the racks. We also see who can find the craziest stuff. Heather,
I LOVE finding crazy stuff!

Your daughter’s totally adorable and has such a laid back yet edgy-cool sense of style! I’ve always wanted to try henna tattoos (love ink but the idea of having something permanent on my body forever isn’t very appealing to me) and they look fantastic! Glad to hear that you two had a lot of fun that day.

Your look is great! I would like to enquire about your shoes, they’re lovely! Are they available for purchase anywhere?
Shoes are from this season – H&M. If you have a store in your area, you can probably pick up a pair there! Otherwise, H&M doesn’t sell on the web.

It sounds like you two had a lot of fun. And that girl is way talented! On my last mommy and daughter day, my Mom and I went to shopping and then to a bookstore, where we browsed for a LONG time. After deciding on what we wanted we stopped for a sweet treat then hom.
